NEIGHBORHOOD
WATCH
What is Neighborhood Watch?
Neighborhood Watch is a program that involves
the joint efforts of residents and law enforcement to enhance neighborhood
security, and encourage mutual assistance and concern among neighbors.
Why Neighborhood Watch?
Neighborhood Watch crime programs are a proven
and effective means to substantially prevent and reduce crime. Throughout
the country, dramatic decreases in crime are reported to law enforcement
in communities where Neighborhood Watch programs are active. The program
also helps build civic pride and serves as a springboard for efforts that
address other neighborhood concerns.
Who can be involved?
Any resident in Hillcrest Knolls can join-
young and old, single and married, renter and homeowner. Even the busiest
of people can belong to a Neighborhood Watch- they can keep an eye out for
neighbors as they come and go.
How can I help?
Become a Watch Volunteer... Serve by
reporting suspicious behavior and criminal activities to Block Captains or the
Neighborhood Watch Coordinator.
Become a Block Captain...Serve as
liaison between Watch Volunteers/residents and the Neighborhood Watch
Coordinator. They also recruit new members, and assist with the planning
and development of the program.
